Welcome to Tuesday, which the Internet tells us is also National Carrot Cake Day. It's not as celebrated as Groundhog Day (yesterday's event saw good news for desert residents as Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter), but in our minds it should be. We can think of few other ways to enjoy dessert and veggies at the same time!

Palm Springs event aims to help gay men over 50 navigate life transitions
A new weekend retreat launching in Palm Springs aims to help gay men over 50 navigate questions about connection and purpose at a life stage when loneliness has become increasingly prevalent.
Driving the news: What Matters Next will hold its inaugural retreat March 27 through 29 at the historic Dinah Shore Estate, creating space for reflection and conversation about aging and life transitions.
Research shows LGBTQ+ adults ages 45 and older are 40% more likely than their non-LGBTQ+ peers to report feelings of loneliness.
Why it matters: The retreat addresses a growing need as many gay men reach a crossroads shaped by questions about what comes next — seeking opportunities beyond traditional social spaces for deeper reflection and shared experience.
"Many gay men reach this stage of life having achieved a great deal — professionally, personally, or both — and still find themselves asking deeper questions about meaning and connection," said Soterios Rouman, a co-founder of What Matters Next.
What to expect: The small-group gathering will feature guided discussions, interactive exercises and shared reflection focused on purpose, well-being and planning for the years ahead.
Guest speakers include Dr. James Mellon, founding spiritual director of Global Truth Center LA, and Chad Ryan, founder of Atlas Training Co. in Palm Springs.
What's next: Registration is now open with limited participation. Details are available at whatmattersnext.com.

🚠 And Finally …

🐾 Each week, The Post partners with a local animal shelter to feature one or more of the many animal companions ready for a new home in our community.
Today, we invite you to meet the king of the hill himself, Hank! Hank is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix that staff at the shelter say is full of love and affection.
Staff also said he's good on leash and with other dogs.
If you’re interested: You can visit the shelter at 4575 E. Mesquite Ave. Hours are 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on all days except for Mondays (open for intake only) and Thursdays (1 p.m. until 7 p.m.). You can always call the shelter at 760-416-5718.
